Projects

We are working to protect Gili Air’s reefs, educate youth, and support our local community. Every project helps restore nature and build a cleaner, greener future for our island.

Biorock Reef Restoration

Biorocks are metal structures that act as artificial coral gardens. Broken coral fragments are attached to them and connected to a gentle electric current. Through electrolysis, minerals from seawater naturally coat the structure, forming a limestone-like surface where corals grow stronger and faster.

This process helps reefs regenerate while increasing coral resilience against rising temperatures — a living, growing barrier protecting our island.

Education Through Play: EcoGames

We believe in inspiring action through fun and creativity.

EcoGames are environmental education games made from recycled plastic, teaching kids about plastic pollution, marine life, and island stewardship in playful, hands-on ways.

Each game session becomes a bridge between awareness and action — nurturing a generation of ocean-loving changemakers.

Cooling Classrooms at SD Gili Air

At SD Elementary School Gili Air, children learn under tin roofs that trap the tropical heat, making classrooms unbearably hot.

Together with Gili Reef Guardians and the Soraya Foundation, we’re raising funds to insulate and cool three classrooms — adding fans, fresh paint, and proper ventilation so the island’s children can learn in comfort.

Gili Air Ecogames: Local Champions for Change

A two-day youth workshop led by Ecogames.net and Alam Santi Design sparked a new generation of changemakers — the Gili Air Local Champions.

These passionate young leaders — Benji, Damian, Nadira, and Hakim — are raising awareness through gamified learning and hands-on community action.

Their initiatives include:

  • School Programs: Games and competitions to stop littering and foster responsibility.
  • Island Events: Partnerships with cafes and dive shops hosting public EcoGame events to fund coral restoration.
  • Local Leadership: Collaborating with influencers, business owners, and environmental groups to scale impact.
